Serving Maryland for Over 50 Years

Our justice system is an adversarial system which pits one party (or group of parties) against the other. In this way it is very similar to a sporting event or content of skill where players or teams face off against each other with the object of winning the game. In order to win, you must play to the best of your ability, which means knowing the rules of the game, knowing how referees or umpires will make calls in certain situations, and scouting the other team to learn their strengths and weaknesses. You must learn to play at different arenas and learn to maximize your home field advantage. Above all, you must practice regularly to hone your skills and keep them sharp.

This is our approach to the practice of law. We pride ourselves on knowing the rules of law, being able to anticipate how a judge will rule on an issue, being familiar with the other lawyer, analyzing the other side's case to find the strengths and weaknesses, being able to practice in many counties and practice there enough to know all the subtle differences in each court operates and keeping our skills sharp by constantly keeping up with new court decisions and changes to rules and statutes.

So when we say that "Justice is a Game" we are not at all suggesting that is a joke or a game of chance to be taken lightly. It is a serious business and we take it very seriously. When we play, we play to win, and we strive to always follow the rules of good sportsmanship (our code of professional responsibility).
